Markdown Preview
Write Markdown and see sanitized HTML side by side; copy the HTML.
Type Markdown on the left; the preview on the right updates as you type. Copy HTML gives you the sanitised HTML.
The preview appears here.
Raw HTML tags, scripts, iframes and event handlers in the Markdown are stripped before the preview is rendered, so pasting content from unknown sources is safe.
How this Markdown editor works
Markdown is a plain-text way of writing formatted documents: a # makes a heading, asterisks add emphasis, dashes make a list. This online Markdown preview renders your text with the marked library using GitHub Flavored Markdown, so tables, task lists, strikethrough and fenced code blocks behave as they do in a GitHub README. The generated HTML is passed through DOMPurify before it reaches the page, which removes script tags, inline event handlers, iframes and javascript: links. Copy HTML puts that sanitised HTML on your clipboard for a CMS, email template or blog editor; Copy Markdown copies the source unchanged.
Syntax reminders
- Headings use one to six # characters. Leave a blank line between paragraphs; as on GitHub a single line break is ignored, so end a line with two spaces or a backslash to force one.
- Lists start with -, * or 1.; indent two spaces for a nested item. Task lists use - [ ] and - [x].
- Tables need a header row and a separator line such as | --- | :---: | ---: |, which also sets column alignment.
- Wrap inline code in backticks; put longer code between lines of three backticks with an optional language name, kept as a class for syntax highlighters.
- Links are [text](https://example.com) and images ; images load directly from the URL you give. Raw HTML is removed, so prefer Markdown syntax.
Privacy
Your Markdown stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored, so drafts, internal documentation and private notes are safe to preview here.
