How to find your car's fuel consumption

Taiwan quotes fuel consumption in km/L, the distance one litre takes you, while European brochures use L/100 km, the litres burned per 100 km, and US sites use miles per gallon. The first two are reciprocals: 15 km/L is 100 ÷ 15 ≈ 6.7 L/100 km. The quickest source is your trip computer: reset the average-consumption display when you fill up and read it at the next fill. For a measured figure, fill the tank until the pump clicks off, note the odometer, drive normally, fill up the same way and divide the kilometres driven by the litres added; the helper at the bottom does the division. The Energy Administration (Ministry of Economic Affairs) publishes official test figures for every model sold in Taiwan, but real-world consumption is usually 10–20% worse than the label.

Why the number varies

Fuel prices in Taiwan

CPC (台灣中油) and Formosa Petrochemical (台塑石化) adjust pump prices every week under the floating-price formula, announced Sunday noon and effective Monday 00:00. Check the CPC “油價資訊” (fuel price) page or Sunday's news for this week's 92, 95, 98 and diesel prices, then type the price above. This tool deliberately stores no price so it can never show a stale one.
